Recently, we welcomed a 2018 Peugeot 3008 GT Line 2.0 BlueHDi into our workshop after the customer received the dreaded “Emissions Fault: Starting Impossible in 450 miles” message. Alongside resolving the issue, the customer also wanted to improve the vehicle’s performance and drivability.
Vehicle & ECU Information
This Peugeot is fitted with a Bosch MD1 engine control unit (ECU), one of Bosch’s latest-generation engine management systems. The MD1 ECU provides advanced control over fuel injection, turbo boost, emissions systems and overall engine performance.
Due to the security built into the MD1 ECU, specialist equipment and professional programming procedures are required to safely access and modify the software. Using genuine ECU programming tools and custom calibration software, we successfully programmed the Bosch MD1 ECU to complete the required software modifications and install a custom Stage 1 performance remap.
The Problem
The vehicle arrived with an AdBlue system fault causing the dashboard to display:
“Emissions Fault – Starting Impossible in 450 miles.”
If ignored, this warning would eventually prevent the vehicle from starting once the countdown reached zero, often leaving owners with expensive repair bills.
