EGR Fault Code Diagnosed on a 2016 Discovery Sport 2.0 Diesel
We recently had this 2016 Land Rover Discovery Sport 2.0 Diesel in at Advanced Remaps & DPF Cleaning in Hartlepool after an EGR-related fault was detected.
Using our professional diagnostic equipment, we identified fault code P049B-00 – Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) B Insufficient Flow Detected.
Rather than simply clearing the fault code, we carried out further checks to establish the nature of the problem and discuss the available options with the customer.
EGR Fault & Software Solution
The EGR system is responsible for recirculating a controlled amount of exhaust gas back into the engine to help reduce NOx emissions. When the EGR system develops a fault, it can lead to warning lights, poor drivability and other engine-management issues.
Following diagnosis, the customer decided to proceed with an EGR software solution, removing the EGR-related fault from the vehicle’s engine management strategy.
50/50 Stage 1 Remap
While the vehicle was with us, the customer also opted for our 50/50 Stage 1 remap.
Our 50/50 calibration is designed as an all-round setup, sitting between an economy-focused and performance-focused map. The aim is to provide a noticeable improvement in throttle response, drivability and pulling power, while maintaining a sensible calibration for everyday driving.
This can be particularly useful on vehicles such as the Discovery Sport, where customers often want improved performance and stronger response without an overly aggressive setup.
