Volvo V40 Performance Remap, EGR Delete & Denso ECU Unlock

We recently had this Volvo V40 into Advanced Remaps & DPF Cleaning for a combination of performance tuning and fault-related work.
The vehicle had been experiencing EGR fault codes, so an EGR delete was carried out to address the EGR-related issues alongside the performance work.
Denso MB279700 ECU – Locked
One of the more interesting parts of this job was the ECU fitted to the vehicle.
This V40 uses a Denso MB279700 ECU, which was locked and therefore couldn’t be tuned using the usual programming method.
The ECU is also positioned behind the passenger-side front wheel, meaning access to the ECU was required before we could carry out the necessary work.
We carried out an ECU patch/unlock, allowing us to access the ECU and proceed with the performance calibration.
120hp to 180hp
Once the ECU was successfully unlocked, we could complete the performance remap.
Standard: 120hp / 280Nm
Tuned: 180hp / 370Nm
That’s a gain of:
+60hp
+90Nm
The finished vehicle benefits from a significant increase in power and torque, giving the V40 stronger acceleration and a more responsive driving experience.
Another specialist ECU job completed
This is a good example of why not every remap is simply a case of plugging into the diagnostic port and writing a file.
With the Denso MB279700 ECU being locked and located behind the passenger-side front wheel, additional work was required before the vehicle could be tuned.
At Advanced Remaps & DPF Cleaning, we have the equipment and experience to deal with these more involved ECU setups.
